Emergency Management Coordinator (Winnipeg Office) – Employment Opportunity
Location: Winnipeg Sub Office
Job Description and Role:
The Emergency Management Coordinator will work to improve community safety by addressing the following areas:
• Mitigation and Prevention: involves activities which reduce or eliminate the effects of an emergency disaster.
• Preparedness: Actions taken prior to an emergency or disaster to ensure an effective response. This can include training, community engagement, emergency preparedness education, and communication plans.
• Response: Involves actions taken to respond to an emergency.
• Recovery: Includes the activities required to return the community to its pre-emergency state.
The Emergency Management Coordinator will provide a high-level of project coordination and require strong and effective working relationships with colleagues, superiors, communities, and health service partners and organizations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Facilitate and coordinate development of Community Emergency Plans
• Liaise, establish, develop and maintain relationships with government, emergency services, communities and external organizations
• Determine and identify community training needs as necessary and develop training plans that support community requirements and recommendations
• Provide support to community command centres during emergencies and evacuations
• Monitor all emergency situations in communities and keep a record of situation reports and outcomes.
• Write proposals to seek funding for emergency preparedness, mitigation, recovery, and forest fuel management
Qualifications
• Emergency Management related certificate, diploma or degree, or relevant experience may be considered
• Knowledge of the pillars of Emergency Management
• Knowledge of the local communities and Nation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, and Teams)
• Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with communities and partners
Working Conditions
• Travel throughout the nation
• Ability to work flexible hours and available to be on-call and respond to emergency requests with short notice
Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
